"I like coming to The Healing Place because it is the only place that I can talk about my dad." -(Boy, 6, after the death of his father.)
"My children's progress is due to the wonderful caregivers at The Healing Place. The environment, the volunteers, and the other children have done more wonders for my two than I ever could. This place and those so devoted to it have been a God send to our lives". -(Mother of two after the death of their father.)
"The Healing Place has become a very important part of our life. Our entire family has benefited greatly from this wonderful service.   At the most difficult time in our lives, we were welcomed with love, compassion and understanding. We were allowed to cry, get angry, share our deepest feelings or just sit quietly and reflect on our own thoughts. We share hugs, we share smiles and we share tears. We always come away feeling better and with a renewed spirit. Our healing has begun, our hearts have started to mend - all because of The Healing Place." (Cheryl George & Jennifer Wilkinson, grandmother and mother of child who lost her grandfather and has been attending The Healing Place since January 2002).

More teens and children share their feelings about The Healing Place grief support programs

The Healing Place is a very fun yet helpful way to help your children cope with what they are going through. I was hesitant when I first started to go and I thought it would be stupid, but I went and tried it out. After I got to know everybody I felt very comfortable talking and playing with them there. We have a stress room, which we know as the volcano room. In this room, you can punch a punching bag and throw stuff around. We also have the art room, where we can do arts and crafts. We can punch and punching bag and throw stuff around. We can go outside and play outside games as long as you are accompanied by an adult. We have almost every board game you can think of and one of the most important aspects of the healing place is being around people who are going through the same things.
John, 14 year old boy whose mother died
In May of 2003, my father died. I never thought I could get over it. My mom started taking me to The Healing Place. They helped me feel better. I made a lot of friends there. I feel safe there because I'm around people that are like me because everyone there has lost a loved one. The Healing Place is a place to heal. At The Healing Place, there is a room called the volcano room, this has a punching bag for when you're angry about the loved ones death. It also has some animals that you can throw. There is also a game room with tons of cool games. My favorite room is the art room. There is almost every supply that you could think of to make a craft. There's also a hanging out room with couches and beanbags. The Healing Place is a great place for children that have had losses. There's a bunch of play food and dress up clothes for the younger children. Also, they always have a snack ready for you. I always enjoy going to The Healing Place. I would like to thank the people that work at The Healing Place. Thank you. M
Mallory, 11 year old girl whose father died
I look forward to walking through the door every other Monday. It puts a smile on my face—everytime…seeing the other teens like myself and the adults—who are really teens themselves—talking about our loss, pain and most of all love. Those are some of the things I love about the place. We're family.
Jenita, 16 year old girl whose mother died
