Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to participate in The Healing Place Healing Heart’s Programs (School Based and In-Facility Programs)?
The Healing Place is open to all children and teens between the ages of 5-19, living in Colbert, Lauderdale, and Franklin counties who have experienced the death of a loved one. We also provide support to the families of the children and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one.
How much does it cost?
We do not charge a fee for the grief support services offered by The Healing Place. All programs at The Healing Place are 100% free of charge to our participants and their families.
How long after the death does the family need to wait before calling?
A family can call and start the process for participation as soon as they are ready. Every family and every individual grieves differently. We recognize this and meet families when and where they are ready.
What if a child or teen needs private counseling?
The Healing Place does provide individual and family counseling, as well as conducts support groups through our Healing Hearts program.
How long is the child, teen or family expected to participate in The Healing Place?
We believe in the uniqueness of the intensity and duration of grief for each individual and family. Children and teens choose when to start and when to stop attending. We serve children ages 5-19.
How is The Healing Place funded?
The Healing Place operates entirely on donations from generous individuals, foundations and corporations. We appreciate every gift as it allows us to continue providing help, hope, and healing to grieving children, teens, and families. Click here to learn how you can help.
