Catherine M. Job, Executive Director
Catherine joined the staff of The Healing Place as Executive Director in July of 2018. She has a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Houston Baptist University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas. Catherine has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1991.
Catherine has worked in the mental health field for 30 years as a therapist, clinical director, and executive director. She has worked with children and their families throughout her career. She understands and supports the idea that asking for help during difficult situations is a sign of strength. She believes the work done at The Healing Place restores hope and builds resilience in children and their families.
Candace Strait, School Program Coordinator
Candace began working at the Healing Place in August 2019 as the School Program Coordinator. She received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of North Alabama and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama with a concentration in Children, Youth and Families. She has been working in the field of social work for over 20 years, having been licensed as an independent clinical social worker since 2005.
Candace’s background primarily includes child welfare and mental health. Her experience includes having been a therapist, supervisor, as well as providing education, consulting and training to others. “The Healing Place has been such an important resource in our area for so many years, it is my honor to be able to provide services to the many families dealing with grief every day. I want people to know that we provide a safe place to help with grief support when they are ready and that no one has to face difficult situations by themselves. The many stories I hear of those who have been touched by the Healing Place is a true indicator of how important this work is. “
Katie McWilliams, Children and Teen Program Coordinator
Nancy Cooper, Children’s Grief Counselor
Katie graduated from the University of Alabama in 2007. She obtained her Independent Clinical License in 2011 and Private Independent License in 2019. Katie has worked in a variety of settings including: The Department of Human Resources, Community Mental Health, United States Military, Therapeutic Foster Care, and Residential Substance Abuse. Katie was the Adult Grief Support Leader for the Healing Place in 2015 and is returning to work as a Grief counselor for children in both individual and school groups. Katie is also available to see adults individually at the Healing Place facility. Katie is married with 3 children of her own, ages 9, 5, and 3.
Nancy Cooper facilitates school groups in Franklin County. She volunteered with The Healing Place in 2002 (in the beginning) and has been employed by The Healing Place since 2004. She loves working with children and teens.
Nancy also served as a Safe and Drug Free School Counselor for Russellville City Schools. She holds a B.S. in Accounting and Management, a Master in Business Administration, and Master in Counseling from the University of North Alabama.
She has been married 40 years and counting. She has 2 daughters, 2 son-in-law, and 3 grandsons.
